Creator Journals 9/10/25
I started revisions on The Kingdom’s Disdain book 11 today, and let me tell you, the daily Beach Knight grind has improved my writer’s instinct immensely! I’m improving the structure in so many of my old sentences and adding a lot to the word count. So, look forward to The Kingdom’s Disdain Book 11: Circles, later this fall!
It is definitely a much more sober narrative than Beach Knight. Unlike the other entries in the series, it mostly sticks to a single POV, that of Trog, a jaded 47 year old female warrior who has had a really hard life. I wanted to give Trog the focus in this one, since I think the other three main characters have had more narrative attention in the previous books. I want this to be more of a sobering character study. I don’t want to give too much away, but I’m proud of what I’ve created so far, and I’m looking forward to hearing from my readers.
May all of your circles bring regeneration.
Today’s writing tip: Sometimes it’s fun to think “What kind of character/situation have I never written before?” and do that.
