Happy National Donut Day! I forgot to get a donut, and frankly at this moment I don’t really feel like I want one. I’m in Dinner Mode. I want a Meal.
I’ll be running a new dungeons and dragons game this weekend. That doesn’t directly tie into Beach Knight, but it’s the same world, and I like to think the very act of building world-lore contributes to the project. To all projects.
I dedicated this week to DnD prep, and to write a series of flashbacks that will be important to The Beach Knight’s backstory. I’ve written all but one flashback, and for the life of me I can’t materialize that one. Sure, I could create something bland to fill the gap, but that’s not what I want to do. That’s never what I want to do. It needs to be either meaningful or incredibly silly, preferably both, but I’m stuck, so maybe I’ll step away from this segment and come back to it after I write more main chapters. I think next week will be all about chapter 5. Yeah. Actually writing it! For real this time!
I don’t think there’s really a particular lesson in any of this. We press on. That’s the whole lesson. We sleep. We rise. We work. We write Beach Knight. If we don’t write Beach Knight, we write Beach Knight lore.
All is one and one is all.
