I had a new idea, “What if I locked in for an entire hour every day instead of focusing on word count?”

In my head, it’s a very attractive idea. It would be like going to the gym regularly, but for writing. See, while I’m decent at writing frequently, staying focused for a sustained amount of time is not easy for me. But. Like. What if I just tried harder and made it feel natural? Like jogging?
This might blow up in my face. I have no doubt that even if there are positive results, there will probably also be negative consequences. Despite all that, I press on. I have to keep learning what doesn’t work before I can know what does work!

They told Thomas Edison the light bulb was impossible (Probably, maybe) They told Ben Franklin not to hang keys on kites, but those old dudes ended up creating our modern society, or maybe Nikola Tesla did. Not really sure. I think Tesla did a lot of things he didn’t get credit for. It’s possible that Edison invented the light bulb a second time after Tesla already invented it. Maybe we should all invent our own light bulbs.

You do that.

I’m going to go write.

  1. There was an old classic movie that the plot was ‘how’ to make a has-been author claw out of the ‘writer’s block’. The promoters, with a certain plot in mind, locked him up in a super luxury suite, with anything that he desires. And of course, being in the 1940’s gave him a deluxe Smith Corona! Last 3 weeks I suffered from an advanced stage of ‘writer’s block’. Luckily the brain started to trickle by itself, OR else, I was seriously considering the ‘lock-up’ remedy on myself.
