Weird Dreams Daily 4 “Writing About Writing”

Hi, I’m author, Christian, and avid Youtube Poop watcher Paul Lang, and this is my daily blog.
One reason I started this blog is because, as a writer, I want to build a platform. It would probably make more sense to blog something that has anything to do with my writing genre, but ultimately I decided to do this, because I’m very bad at blogging, and the personal conversation style that blogs use is one I’m not very adept at. You know what they say, practice makes a lot of weird, incomplete projects.
Practice is pretty much the only route I know to effectively improve my writing. The creative process is very much a subconscious one for me. I don’t think about my writing in a very conscious way. I read a lot, meditate a lot, think about life and the world, and then when it’s time to write, I just sort of vomit things onto the page. Usually, I’m just trying to create a lot of images I think are cool.
Thought usually comes in at about the halfway point. After I’ve vomited for about twenty chapters, I look in on what I’ve done and I try to figure out where it’s going. By that nature, I’m sure this blog will turn into something very different at some point. It’ll probably be some kind of horror ARG at some point. I feel like horror ARG is probably where this is headed. So far these posts just feel kind of like long Facebook status updates with cool titles. Eventually you’ll see a post that’s like, “Help! I’m lost and Siren Head is chasing me! If you want to help me, you’ll have to send me your mom’s credit card number.”

What does your creative process look like? Is it more cognitive, or intuitive? Sit down. Stay a while. Tell me about it. I must know.
