Just finished revising chapter 1 of Circles. It came out to roughly 5k words, and I’m really proud of it. It’s neat what happens when you jump back on an older project after a break. I felt like there was a whole lot there to tweak. I found it much easier to narrate in the character’s particular voice instead of just describing the events. This book is going to be a treat; a somber, laborious treat with cool-ass fight scenes.
This is an arduous journey through the desert; a story of survival and psychological breakdown. We are hovering over the shoulder of a broken andtihero, and she never lets us forget she’s broken.
The most annoying part was all the back-checking. I had to try and remember details from the previous book, what everyone was wearing etc, and that was tough because the idiot who wrote book 10 was kind of vague in some of his descriptions. What a loser.
I’m trying to tackle a few different projects a day, and it’s been fun, but I hope I don’t burn myself out. I’ve had a lot of headaches lately.
Remember, the desert is cold at night.
Today’s writing tip: You don’t need to use that large word. You are not proficient in wielding it. Use a smaller one. It’s fine.
