The Cause of Death: A Vulture’s Tale, comes out in four days.
I’m so close to the finish-line now. I’ve got half a chapter to finish, but I’ve also got a role playing game to prepare for tomorrow and a headache today, so it feels a little like I’m being squeezed. That’s my own fault. I’ll have to keep reminding myself not to take too much on next month and the month after that. This has been a really productive year, and I deserve to relax.
I didn’t end up giving myself a lot of time to advertise or brand my new book. I wonder if that’s self-sabotage on some level, if I’m sub-consciously trying to avoid that part of the process. Guys, I don’t know how to sell. I’m loud and obnoxious enough, so you would think I’d be able to bother people into buying books. But no. No luck.
I think next year I need to make advertising a main priority. Writing on its own is fun and valid from a personal fulfilment standpoint, but it would be really neat to actually sell books too.
Happy Monday before Halloween!
Today’s writing tip: Sometimes you should intentionally withhold information from your readers, especially if they want it. Use it to bait them onward. Don’t give anything away too easily.
