Starting From the Beginning

Creator Journals 9/5/25

It’s a slow day for creation. I’m mostly resting, but I did revise a section of chapter 2. The early chapters are much, much shorter than the later ones, so I want to add some meat. In some cases, it’s not really even a matter of padding or adding content, it’s the fact that the pacing was just different when I first started writing. I wanted to get all the action and story beats down, so I have a lot more happening in each sentence. Later on, I started letting the story breathe a bit more. It was a vast improvement, but I want the style to match. I don’t want it to sound like I’m learning how to write as I go.

All that being said, as much as I love Beach Knight, I’m getting a bit burned out on it. I might try to limit my revision to one chapter a week, and focus the rest of my writing time on The Kingdom’s Disdain, which I’ve probably neglected for a bit too long.

So little to do, so much time. Wait. Strike that. Reverse it.

Today’s writing tip: Being aware of time and your schedule is a good thing, but never let yourself feel rushed. Let your creation have the time it needs.

Processing…
Success! You're on the list.
