August begins! That means its pre-pre Halloween season! I can slowly start to lean into autumnal activities! Halloween season usually doesn’t last long enough for me to do all the spooky things I want to, scary movie marathons, scary videogames, cider chugging, etc. So I usually start to soft-launch Halloween in the late summer! So, August marks the pre-pre Halloween season, while September is the initiation of the pre-Halloween season.
My only concern is that this slow fade away from summer vibes could be dangerous for Beach Knight, a story that embodies summer vibes.
Despite myself, I’m going to start thinking about “Who Wants to Live Forever” which is a way spookier story and one I’m really excited for!
I must stay the course. Beach Knight is coming along splendidly. I hope to finish it in this new month. Worst case, I hope to finish it before the end of September. There’s no way I’ll be able to write about the beach in October. My soul just doesn’t work that way.
I now wish to chug cider. But I am a patient man. Sometimes.
Today’s writing tip: Try to zero-in on the things that you like. What are your favorite kinds of characters? What are your favorite settings? Knowing what you like will help you write a story that is distinctly ‘you’.
