The Power of the Clock

Creator Journals 7/31/25

It’s 3:20 PM and I’m not at the height of my powers, but I still have enough strength to do what needs to be done.

July is ending, and, instead of finishing, Beach Knight is becoming longer. Today I wrote 500 more words. I also began outlining the second book. I hope to have something I can share by the end of September. After that, I want to work on some other things, like the next Kingdom’s Disdain book.

Chapter 8 is coming along well, but it’s still only beginning. In the past, my restlessness sometimes made writing hard. This project has helped me slow down. The more I’ve slowed down, the more satisfied I’ve been with my writing. I’ll probably apply that patience to the previous chapters when I go back to revise them.

I’ve noticed that I’m often at the height of my writing power at around noon. I don’t know why. Later in the day, I tend to get distracted more easily. Earlier in the day I’m not always present enough.

When do you find that your creative powers peak?

Today’s writing tip: Make the story fun for yourself. Do whatever it takes to make that happen. If you do, your creation will be loved and it will thrive.

Success! You're on the list.
