Creator Journals 7/19/25
Exhaustion is back in style today. I did some writing and some game prepping earlier, but now I’m tired. I’d like to take a nap. But I cannot. I am at work, and after work I will be running the D&D game I’ve been going on about. I’m excited about that, but also very tired right now. I am dreaming of a second wind.
Yesterday I ran into an independent comic creator running a stall at a used book store. I felt that it was morally important to buy his comic, since I too am an indie creator struggling to get somewhere. I haven’t read it yet, but the art style was cool!
Next week I’ll be able to dive back into Beach Knight full thrust, so I expect the draft to be done before too long, and I’m really excited about that. But that is not today’s focus. Today I have to run my fantasy world in real time, using nothing but dice and a lot of open tabs on my laptop!
May your twenties always be natural!
Today’s writing tip: Sometimes when I’m stuck, it can help to switch mediums. I’ll scribble out a dozen or so pages in my notebook, then I can edit them while transferring to digital.
