Creator Journals 7/10/25
It was a busy day today, and I still managed to get out 1500 words and finish chapter 6. I’ve been busy and stressed, but I think I’m getting stronger. I think I’m gaining a better immunity to distractions. I’ve also started going on daily walks and drinking more water, so it’s a brave new world.
A lot of the writing skills that once used to function on auto-pilot for me haven’t really been as easy in the past few years. I think I’m trying to regain all of those instincts. I want to train them so hard that they imprint themselves in my blood, on my DNA, forever. That might not happen, but I want it to. We all need to dream sometimes.
I’m still getting a handle on my characters, which is kind of crazy since I’m so deep into this, but again, characterization came more easily to me in the past. I need these guys to have definitive personalities and characteristics so that all the character-based comedy and drama I have planned will work.
Anyway, chapter 7 is a big one for the main character. It kind of lays out his personal arc in plain terms, so I have a space to work on all that, and then maybe I can tweak some of the earlier segments.
The headaches have let up just a bit today, so I’m sneaking all this creative work in. Don’t make any loud noises or the headaches might hear you.
See you on the 11 of July, my friends.
Today’s writing tip: Be as extreme and self indulgent as you want, then go back and edit. Sometimes your cheese isn’t as bad as you thought it was.
