Happy 4th! However you might feel about the USA right now, the date is certainly July 4th. That part is true, and I hope the day is a good one for you.
When I was a kid, I used to get up in the morning and watch a small local parade, then I would go to the park with my family and eat ice cream.
Today I’m at work. At least I get paid a holiday rate, and I wrote 1k words. Chapter 6 is shaping up to be my favorite chapter, and the longest one yet. I’m introducing a lot of new characters in this one, and establishing one of my favorite warrior rivalries.
I struggle with balancing a consistent writing schedule vs feeling stress free and relaxed. I really want to make progress and complete this story, but I still have a long way to go, and we’re getting to the end of summer. Creating a sense of obligation in myself helps me stick to my commitments, but I need to make sure I’m relaxing too.
Do you feel free? I pray that you all feel free today.
God bless America and every other country.
Today’s writing tip: Read your work out loud when you revise. Sometimes awkward writing only stands out when you can hear it audibly.
