Creator Journals 6/18/25

Today was a disastrous day at work. Literally an all-day stress adventure kind of situation. I didn’t get to write 1k words. I got to beef up my outline for chapter 6 just a little bit, but that’s about it. Even this journal entry is coming at the end of my day, now that I’ve had a moment to sit down. I would love to sit down and think, but thinking is a luxury. I must be thankful for what I have.

Earlier today, I was thinking about the merrit of social commentary in fiction, especially silly fiction about dragons on the beach. I hate stories that are overly preachy or didactic, but man, sometimes a writer has some qualms, and a writer has to blow some steam off. I’ve probably been reading the news too much, or, at least, the twitter version of the news. Must see if I can let my steam off delicately, in a way that compliments the characters and themes. If you catch me being didactic, smack me in the face. I never want to be that guy.

                                            Smack that like button!

Today’s writing tip: Make your first draft terrible so you can focus on revising it.

Success! You're on the list.
