Happy Memorial Day!

Summer has unofficially started, so my wife and I watched Mamoru Hosoda’s 2009 masterpiece, Summer Wars. I had never seen it before and it was really good! I want to watch as many “Summer” themed movies as possible, since I’m trying to inject my new project with those vibes. The nature of Summer Wars as a fun summer movie and also a meditation on death and loss really matches the themes I’m going for in Beach Knight.

Unlike some of the other chapters, chapter 5 of Beach Knight is all new content. The first four contained big chunks and ideas from draft zero, which I wrote last year. Chapter 5 is a new part of the story containing a brand new plotline that I just recently added. I don’t know whether this will make things easier or harder. I know I have a lot of outlining to do.

Previous drafts and abandoned stories can be a goldmine for new ideas. Honor the past this memorial day.

Honor the dead. Honor what has been.

Don’t be an isolated entity, let the world around you seep in and flavor your experience, your stories and your thoughts.
The work of an author can be lonely, so don’t let yourself disappear into yourself.

Anyway, I’ve rambled enough today. I’m going to go eat a hot dog!

I’m going to go eat two hamburgers and a hot dog.

Processing…
Success! You're on the list.
