It’s hard writing and also having a job. Usually, after I get done work at three, I sit down at Starbucks, order a hot chocolate (way too late in the day for me to have coffee) and try to write for thirty minutes or so. Most of the time I’m too tired to write more than a few hundred words. A lot of my words come out in the cracks between. I write on my phone at work, on long car rides etc. I really wish I had a more consistent, mechanical way of creating. I’m a big schedule guy, so that would satisfy my innate need for planning and order, but sometimes the words just aren’t there and all I can do is stare at a wall.

Somehow I’ve still managed to write a lot, several unpublished full novels and my 12 self-published short novels. I think if you love something, you’ll keep trying at it. That’s my secret really, I try to keep things fun. If I tried to make it too serious I don’t think I’d be able to do much.

I suggest we all keep doing what we love. Life is too short to spend doing things you hate. So I’m going to go to Starbucks, order a hot chocolate, stare at a damn wall and make myself write about the silly dragon who lives on the beach. It’s all love. Even the pain.

Love and peace!
