Creator Journals 5/1/25

I took matters into my own hands and decided to make my own cover using Canva. It was really important to me that my book cover match a certain vibe that I had in my head, and that it have the right set of colors. I’ve been told I’m a synesthesiac before. This book is a light shade of purple. It has to be a light shade of purple.

One thing that haunts me as an author is the fact that each of your readers has to experience your book alone. You can’t be there with them, reading with them, sharing the experience. The process of writing, and the process of reading, are both a bit lonely if you think about it. I suppose I could physically read the book to someone, but even then, the version of the story they see inside their mind, the way the characters look, the way things sound and feel, all of that is internal. It’s haunting, but maybe in a cool way. That’s one reason I often don’t give overly detailed descriptions of physical appearances. I know that readers will fill the blanks in with images that mean things to them personally. That’s not a bug, it’s a feature.

Anyway, my book is purple. That’s all that matters.

Purple is all that matters.
