A poem inspired by The Muse of Cold Earth.
The Ocean’s Rhythm
I claimed the sand that I could hold between my fingers
And nothing else
On this shore I have left my wreck
A casualty of causality
No way to control
But your eyes looked over the endless sea and craved a nightmare
Just one deep horror to make it all worthwhile
So is the heart of every stranded seaman
Lost among sirens
And the song in your heart was mine
An echo of the roaring waves bounding in an empty cabin.
