A poem inspired by The Muse of Cold Earth.
Bird of Paradise
What has been bound in this life shall be bound in the next
And what has been lost will come back to me one day.
–
I descend into the sky from below the depths of the soil
The space for falling is limitless
And if I have wings I can glide in that descent for the rest of Kingdom Come
There is something inside me that wants to touch the bottom of the infinite
–
But her eyes were hellfires, lighting my way across the dark
And her words were my song, singing me to sleep
And there was nothing I could do to access my own strength for
There’s no beauty in being confident alone
Or a part of the crowd
I’m not aiming for paradise
An empty place, full of shapes I don’t understand
Useless diamonds sapphires and immaterial concepts
I know everything there would be strange to me
A sinner, bound by lust
