A poem inspired by The Muse of Cold Earth
Romeo
I scorn you
Dressed in my best and all the evening stars
I turn you away like I’m turning from the straight and narrow path that leads to destruction
My heaving bones rattling like fists cracked against the crucible of rabbid dogma
Raising
Alighting
Lighting the dark so it can burn away into blacker ash
Every head will bow
Every knee shall bend
Every tongue turn to soil
And let them cry until tears tear deep furrows in their faces
There’s a secret at the core of everything, just as eternally false as it is
Venomously true
Every love story ends with a death
